Some of Lombok’s finest scenery sits an hour or two north of the coast road, where rice fields give way to forest and the land begins to climb toward the shoulders of Mount Rinjani. This full-day private tour follows exactly that route, pairing the cool green world of North Lombok’s waterfalls with one of the island’s most photographed sunset viewpoints, all at a pace you set yourself.
The day opens with a morning pickup from your hotel or villa, timed to suit your group rather than a fixed departure list. From there you travel north in a private vehicle, winding past coconut plantations, small Sasak settlements and roadside fruit stalls. Stops along the way are entirely up to you, so if a view looks worth photographing, you simply ask and the car pulls over.
At the waterfalls, a short walk through shaded forest brings you to falling water and natural pools where you can swim, stand in the spray or just sit and listen. The air here is noticeably fresher than on the coast, and the sound of the river makes it easy to lose an hour without noticing. Bring swimwear, a towel and a dry change of clothes.
- Private air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking driver
- Hotel or villa pickup and drop-off in the main tourist areas
- Walking access to the waterfall area with time to swim
- Free stops for photos, snacks and local coffee
- Sunset timing at Malimbu Hill built into the schedule
The afternoon works back along the northwest coast, where the road hugs cliffs above the sea. The final stop is Malimbu Hill, a bend in the road that opens onto one of the widest views on the island: forested headlands dropping into deep blue water, with Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air laid out on the horizon. As the light softens, the sea turns copper and the islands fade to silhouettes. It is an easy, unhurried place to end a day.
The tour suits couples, families, photographers and anyone who prefers a relaxed rhythm to a packed itinerary. There is no shared minibus, no group to wait for and no pressure to move on before you are ready. Walking is light to moderate, mostly steps and forest paths, so ordinary mobility is enough and no special fitness is needed.
Expect around eight hours door to door, returning to your accommodation in the evening. If you would like an earlier start for softer morning light or a longer lunch along the way, just tell us when you book and we will shape the day around you.
